Elinor L. Fisher, age 79 years, of Franklin Township, Hunterdon County, NJ, died Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at Memory Gardens of Easton, Easton, PA.
Born in Glen Ridge, NJ, April 12, 1937, daughter of the late Dr. John and Mary Vaughan Lee, she had resided in Flemington, NJ for fifty-four years and had resided in Franklin Township for three years.
A former teacher in the Flemington-Raritan School System and later at Edna Mahan Correctional Facility, Clinton, NJ, Elinor was a graduate of Swarthmore College and received her MA from Trenton State College (now the College of New Jersey).
Elinor was a very giving person who was well-known in the Flemington area. She was an avid dog walker and animal lover. A former co-owner of Hunters Rest, Annandale, NJ, she served as Flemington Borough Tax Collector and was an active volunteer at Anderson House.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Julia and Steven Williams of Annandale, NJ, and Katherine Lee of Bloomsbury, NJ; five grandchildren, Louis Roerig, Colby Williams, Sawyer Williams, Robert Fox and Samuel Fox; a great granddaughter, Adelina Fox; and a lifelong friend, Jane D. Castner fo Annandale, NJ.
Calling hours will be Monday, October 24, 2016, 3:00 - 7:00 PM at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Anderson House, 532 County Road 523, Whitehouse Station, NJ 08889 or Tabby's Place, 1100 Route 202, Ringoes, NJ 08551.
