Adolf G. Polenz, age 89 years, of Delaware Township, NJ, died on Monday, March 14, 2011 at his home. Born on July 20, 1921, in New York City, NY, son of the late Alexander and Katherine Hloucek Polenz, he had resided in Delaware Township for eighty years. He formerly owned and operated Pennington Tire & Texaco, Pennington, NJ. A longtime member of the Kirkpatrick Memorial Presbyterian Church, Ringoes, NJ, Mr. Polenz was one of the founding organizers of the Delaware Township Athletic Organization; an original Trustee of the Holcombe-Jimison Farmstead, Lambertville, NJ; served for over twenty-five years on the Delaware Township Planning Board; was a member of the Delaware Township Committee from 1980-1987 and served as Mayor of the Township in 1982 and 1984. He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Gladys Fulper Polenz in 1981; a son, Robert Polenz in 1995; and another son, Richard Polenz in 2006. Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Amerman Polenz; two sons, Jeffrey Polenz of Pattenburg, NJ and Scott Polenz of Delaware Township, NJ; two daughters, Patricia Reid-Polenz of Cranberry Lake, NJ and Katherine Polenz of Ulster, NY; three step-sons, Douglas Hoff III of Quakertown, NJ, David Hoff of Whitehouse, NJ and John Hoff of Bolingbrook, IL; fifteen grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Ringoes, NJ. Calling hours will be Friday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holcombe-Jimison Farmstead,1605 Daniel Bray Highway, Route 29, Lambertville, NJ 08530.
