Alexander A. Nash Jr., 72, of Naples, FL (formerly of Hunterdon County, New Jersey) died peacefully on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at the Naples Community Hospital in Naples, FL.
He was born in Manhattan, NY, on June 24th, 1946, the son of Alexander A. Sr. and Marion Tabor Nash.
He earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Accounting from Susquehanna University in Selingsgrove, PA, where he was a member of Phi Mu Delta Fraternity. He went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ.
Alex began his career working for the public accounting firm of Main LaFrentz and Company in New York, NY. He went on to have a long and successful career for Public Service Electric and Gas in Newark, NJ until his retirement to Naples, FL in 2004.
His hobbies throughout life included camping, fishing, biking, gardening, and restoring antique trucks and cars. During his retirement he was a member of the Naples-Marco Antique Automobile Club of America. He participated in many car shows where he often displayed his two prized possessions, a 1953 MGTD and a 1991 Lotus Elon. Both went on to win several awards, including some Best in Shows, which gave him great satisfaction. He also took great pride in displaying his father’s collection of WWI posters, and donated many of his WWI posters to various museums throughout the country.
He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Gail Diane Nash, son Gregory and wife Julie Nash of Boulder, CO, son Eric and wife Linda Nash of Hampton, NJ, son Bradley Nash and fiancée Amy Forrest of Richmond, VA, stepson Matthew Eisgrau and fiancée Lara Canham of Golden, CO, stepson Eric and wife Phalen Eisgrau of Philadelphia, PA, grandchildren Brooke, Sophie, Ryan, Sarah, and William Nash, and sister Linda Hart of Sandwich, MA; and many other loving friends and family.
A private burial will be held at Rosemont Cemetery, Rosemont, NJ on Monday, August 13th. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 12th, from 4 pm to 6 pm, at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
