Charles Ennis Hewitt

Charles E. Hewitt, age 93 years, of Wilton, CT died on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 in Norwalk Hospital, Norwalk, CT.

Born in Sergeantsville, NJ, October 16, 1922, he was the son of the late Asa and Bessie Kerr Hewitt.

Mr. Hewitt was a United States Army veteran of World War II.

He was a retired heavy equipment operator with the International Union of Operating Engineers.

He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters. Surviving are his wife of seventy-two years, Hilda Ecker Hewitt; three sons: Robert Hewitt of Wilton, CT, Barry Hewitt of Ottsville, PA, and Alan Hewitt of Wilmington, OH; his four sisters: Helen Piell of Frenchtown, NJ, Doris Culberson of Flemington, NJ, Shirley Kiskurno of Stockton, NJ, and Ruth Schneider of Stockton, NJ; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at 3 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be private in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-3 PM in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the charity of one's choice.
