George R. Ewing, age 66 years, of Flemington, NJ, (Raritan Township) died Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Raritan Township, December 21, 1954, son of the late John and Gertrude Barry Ewing, George had resided in the Flemington area all his life.
A 1973 graduate of Hunterdon Central High School, Flemington, NJ, he was a heavy diesel mechanic for forty-eight years with Timmerman Equipment, Whitehouse Station, NJ, where he was renowned for his skills with truck repairs and especially with sweeper repairs. George fixed and repaired all varieties of motorized equipment; enjoyed tinkering with old cars; loved to fix all sorts of lawn equipment. He often said, "anything with a motor, I can fix." He also enjoyed working around the family farm in Raritan Township.
George was also an avid listener of the radio station WDVR of Sergeantsville, NJ; loved NASCAR racing events and taking fishing trips, especially an annual fishing trip to Canada. He and his wife, Barbara, loved to sing and enjoy music, especially karaoke.
He was also a member of the Flemington Moose Lodge and the Cherryville Baptist Church.
George was pre-deceased by his brother, Barry Ewing, who died in 2013.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Crane Ewing; his daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Frank McPherson of Whitehouse Station, NJ; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy and Roger Cramer of Flemington, NJ and Gail and Greg Buchanan of Lake Kiowa, TX; his step-son David Marshall of Three Bridges, NJ; his step-daughter, Alyson Roscoe of Stanhope, NJ; his grandchildren, Gavin McPherson and Logan McPherson both of Whitehouse Station, NJ; and his step-grandchildren, Serenity, Rylynn, and Jaxxon all of Three Bridges, NJ.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 28, 2021, at 2:00 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Private family graveside services will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ on Monday. Calling hours will be Saturday 2:30 PM-5:30 PM at the funeral home.
