Irene E. Felczak, 95, died peacefully Friday, March 3rd, at Independence Manor in Flemington, NJ, where she resided for the past 5 years.
Irene was born in Elizabeth, NJ in 1927 to Peter and Jennie Kowalski Gronwald, who predeceased her. She had seven siblings, who also predeceased her. Irene and Alfred were married 60 years before his death in 2008.
She was a secretary at Alcohol Beverage Control in Elizabeth, NJ before having her son, Duane, in 1952. Afterwards, she became co-owner with her husband, Alfred, of Casey’s Tavern and then Al’s Bar, both in Elizabeth, NJ.
Irene and Alfred lived in Linden, Rahway and Hillside, NJ. They retired to Loch Haven, PA, then returned to NJ and lived in Bridgewater, Alexandria Township and Manchester, NJ.
Irene is survived by her son Duane and his wife Patti Felczak of Readington, NJ, granddaughter Susan and her husband Geoff Graydon of West Chester, PA, grandson Eric Felczak and his wife Nicole Janisch of Jersey City, NJ, as well as her precious great-grandchildren Kaitlyn and Graham Graydon.
At the family’s request, all services are private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
