Karl A. Posselt

Karl A. Posselt, age 81 years, formerly of East Amwell Township, NJ passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022, in the Laurel Circle Retirement Community, Bridgewater, NJ.

Born in Albany, NY on November 2, 1940, he was the son of the late Rev. Arthur G. and E. Ruth Hawley Posselt. He spent much of his childhood in Jersey City, NJ and moved to Hunterdon County in 1969.

Karl earned his bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from Rutgers University, graduating in 1962. He spent most of his career working in the pharmaceutical industry for Ortho and Pharmacia until his retirement. After his retirement from the corporate world, he was a 9-1-1 Operator for Hunterdon County Communications. Additionally, he served in the United States Army and the Army Reserves as a Staff Sergeant from 1963 to 1969.

Over his lifetime he served his community in many ways through several organizations. These include the Gong Club, Jersey City, NJ and the Liberty Corner First Aid Squad, Bernards Township, NJ. In addition, he was the former President of the East Amwell Board of Education, an Emergency Medical Technician with Amwell Valley Ambulance Corps, serving as Captain and in other leadership roles. He served as Deputy Mayor and Mayor of East Amwell Township. Above all, he was a devoted husband and father, for which his family will always remember him.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Sue V.C. Posselt, of Bridgewater, NJ; his son, David K. Posselt, of Annandale, NJ; his daughter, Kirsten S. Veneziale, of Flemington, NJ; five grandchildren, Jenna, Jared, and Jessica Posselt and Gregory and Scott Veneziale; as well as his brother and sister-in-law, Theodor and Catherine Posselt, of Parsippany, NJ.

Interment will be under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ at Clover Hill Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Clover Hill Reformed Church,890 Amwell Road, Hillsborough Township, NJ 08844. Cremation will take place privately.
