Matthew D. Harjes

Matthew D. Harjes, age 40 years, of Flemington, NJ, died Friday, September 26, 2014, at his home.

Born in Raritan Township, NJ, June 13, 1974, son of Donald L. and Margaret "Peg" Kaempfer Harjes of Tewksbury Township, NJ, Matt had resided in Hunterdon most of his life.

A graduate of Pingry School and Muhlenberg College, Allentown, PA., he was an insurance agent with the Harjes Agency, Flemington, NJ.

Matt was a member and elder of the Flemington Presbyterian Church. He loved sailing, skiing, working outside and spending time with his family.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are two sons, Luke Matthew Harjes and Kaempfer Lewis Harjes, both of Hopewell, NJ, and a sister, Meg Mulry of Basking Ridge, NJ.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, October 5, 2014, at 2:00 PM in the Flemington Presbyterian Church, Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Arrangements are under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK. 73123-1718 or the Flemington Presbyterian Church, 10 East Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
