William A. Yamakaitis, age 78 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Friday, January 26, 2007 at his residence.
Born in Linden, NJ, April 26, 1928, son of the late William J. and Frances Eigner Yamakaitis, he had resided in Linden prior to moving to Raritan Township in 1993.
A World War II Veteran of the United States Merchant Marines, Mr. Yamakaitis was a Custodian for over forty-two years for the Board of Education, Linden, NJ.
A Communicant of St. Magdalen Church, Flemington, NJ, he also was a member of American Legion Post #159, Flemington, NJ.
A grandson, Ryan Leonard, died in 1992.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-six years, Ruth L. Young Yamakaitis; a son, Robert W. Yamakaitis of Raritan Township, NJ; two daughters, Ruth C. LeMunyon of Linden, NJ and Susan A. Leonard of Raritan Township, NJ; a brother, Bernard Yamakaitis of Toms River, NJ; two sisters, Frances Gorczyca and Mildred Mastreanni, both of Toms River, NJ; and six grandchildren, Colleen F. Yamakaitis, Robert W. Yamakaitis, Jr., Ricky W. LeMunyon, Kristy A. LeMunyon, Brendan P. Leonard and Cathleen V. Leonard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 1:00 p.m. in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in St. Magdalen Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
