Agnes McAteer Hagon, age 93 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, went to her eternal rest on Saturday, July 12, 2014 in Rolling Hills Care Center, Clinton Township, NJ, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Newark, NJ, August 9, 1920, daughter of the late Michael and Cora Baxter McAteer, she had resided in Raritan Township since 1988, having formerly lived in Union and Livingston, NJ.
Agnes was retired from Newsweek, where she had worked for many years.
Surviving are her husband of sixty-four years, Robert George Hagon; two daughters and sons-in-law, Laurel and Harvey Schrier of Monterey, CA and Kathleen and David Snyder of Galloway, NJ; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Michael and Catherine Hagon of Somerset, NJ; and two granddaughters, Elizabeth Schrier and Taylor Snyder.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to staff and friends at Rolling Hills Care Center.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ, preceded by visitation from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Indiantown Gap Road, Annville, PA at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Agnes’s name may be made to St. Joseph’s School for The Blind, 761 Summit Ave, Jersey City, NJ 07307.
