Albert A. Pickell, age 76 years, of Clinton Township, NJ, died on Sunday, March 13, 2011, in the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Flemington Junction, NJ, March 12, 1935, he was the son of the late A. Lester and Florence Treftz Pickell. He had resided in the Flemington area all of his life, moving to Clinton Township fourteen years ago.
He was retired from the Raritan Township Department of Public Works. He was a United States Army veteran serving from 1954-56.
A 1954 graduate of Flemington High School, he was a member of Flemington Elks Lodge #1928, the Flemington Exempt Fireman's Association, American Legion Post #159, Flemington, NJ, and was a founding member of the Sunday Morning Golf Club.
He was an avid fisherman, hunter and sports fan, especially of NASCAR racing.
His sister, Anita Winterbauer, died in 1999. Surviving are his wife, Joanne Snyder Pickell; two daughters, Debra Pickell of Aurora, CO and Sharon Eisele of Englewood, FL; four step-daughters, Terri Sautner of Flemington, NJ, Lois Singleton of Hellertown, PA, Deborah Vogt of Milford, NJ, and Diane Gootee of Oxford, NJ; two step-sons, Thomas Vogt of Flemington, NJ and James Vogt of Bridgewater, NJ; a brother, Kenneth Pickell, of Sarasota, FL; and two grandchildren: Alyssa Eisele and Thomas Albert Eisele.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 10 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
