Alexander Joseph Zanetti, age 91 years, of Whiting, NJ, formerly of Flemington, passed on to his eternal reward on June 5, 2010 at his home.
Mr. Zanetti was born in Flemington in 1919 and was a 1936 graduate of Flemington High School. He was a proud World War II veteran serving with the United States Army Air Corps in the Pacific arena from 1942-1945. He was a former member of the American Legion, Flemington Post #159.
Mr. Zanetti retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1979. He and his wife moved from East Brunswick to Whiting in 1979.
The son of Alexander Zanetti and Mary Zanetti Dietz (also of Flemington), Mr. Zanetti was predeceased in 2002 by Doris Baker Zanetti, his beloved wife of 60 years. He was also predeceased by a son, Alexander H. Zanetti in 2001; two brothers, Warren Dietz and Henry Dietz; and a sister, Annette Zanetti Goccia of Lambertville.
Surviving are a son, Joseph Zanetti; a daughter, Delores Williams; a sister, Major (Ret.) Margaret Dietz; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Family and friends may share fond memories at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following the visitation at St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Magdalen Cemetery, Flemington, NJ.
