Alfred A. Chiappa

Alfred A. Chiappa, age 80 years, of Readington Township, NJ, died Friday, July 6, 2018, at Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in New York City, son of the late Andrew and Clothilda Smirne Chiappa, he had formerly resided in Piscataway, NJ and had resided in Readington Township forty years.

A carpenter, he was formerly employed by the North Plainfield Board of Education for twenty-six years until retiring.

Active for many years in masonic organizations, he was Past Master of Darcy Lodge #37, F & AM of Flemington, NJ; Past High Priest of Clinton Chapter Of Royal Arch Masons, Flemington, NJ; Past Commander of St. John’s Commandry #9 and was a recipient of the Knights Templar Cross of Honor. He was also a member of Sojourners Chapter #438, Westfield, NJ.

Surviving are his wife of fifty-two years, Joanne Rasile Chiappa; two sons, Andrew (Joan) Chiappa of Milford, NJ and Richard (Lydia) Chiappa of Easton PA; a sister, Joan Porteus of Bronx, NY; four grandchildren, Nicole, Andrew, Thomas and Brandon, and one great grandchild, Luna.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 12, 2018, at 10:30AM in Three Bridges Reformed Church, Main Street, Three Bridges, NJ. Burial will be in Brig. Gen. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ. Calling hours will be Wednesday 2:00-4:00PM and 7:00-9:00PM at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
