Alfred Joseph DeBlois, died on November 21, 2019; this world lost a “one of a kind,” loving human being, of simply a tired heart.
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather went to join his children, other family members and friends at the ultimate party in heaven.
Alfred, born August 23rd, 1928, was the son of George and Frances DeBlois; brother of June, George, Claire (dec.), Blanche, Charles, Ann, Robert (dec.), Yvonne and Roger.
He shared 68 years of marriage with the love of his life, Frances (Fioravanti) DeBlois. Together they raised six children; Alfred Jr. (dec.), Deborah Blackton (husband Raymond), James (dec.), Colette Leon (husband Shay), Renee Procaccio (dec.) and Yvette Dunnigan.
He was the grandfather of Michael (partner Liz), Aimee, Sauce (husband Daniel), Christopher (wife Danielle), Vincent (wife Icee), Eric, Frances (partner Josh), Andrea (partner Gino), Samantha, Jacob, Abigail and Michael.
He had the joy of being great-grandfather to Ayla, Madelaine, Beatrice and Georgiana.
Al and his wife, Fran, started their journey getting married on June 30, 1951, living in Trenton and Bordentown NJ, and finally building their second and last home in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. He loved spending time hunting, fishing, boating and birding. He was an avid reader of non-fiction, especially history.
After retiring, Al looked forward to his weekly poker games with his retired friends. Above all he was happiest vacationing with his children. He was never quite ready to leave the dance floor and was known for inviting everyone back to his home afterwards. Although he loved to party, he was known to fall asleep and leave Fran to entertain everyone, which she loved.
He was fortunate to spend the last 29 winters at his Florida Keys home where he enjoyed fishing, shrimping and partying with his southern friends.
He will be dearly missed by his soul mate, Fran, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and many dear friends. ‘Till we meet again and keep dancing to Al’s favorite song, “What A Wonderful World.”
Services will be private and the family asks that in lieu of flowers please consider donating to one of Al’s favorite charities: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, 810 Veterans Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20420
