Alfred Paul Laferla

Alfred Paul LaFerla, age 92 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Friday, April 29, 2011, at his home.

Born in Sliema, Malta, February 9, 1919, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Mary LaFerla. He was the youngest and last surviving sibling of eleven children. He married his wife, Mary Farrugia, of Valetta, Malta in 1920. She died of cancer in 1972.

He was a former mechanic with the Lipton Tea Company, Raritan Township, NJ, where he was a loyal and valued employee for forty years.

He was an avid soccer player and played with the Malta United Team in his native country. He had a passion for bowling and belonged to several bowling leagues.

He was a loving husband, devoted, caring and hardworking father, and a special grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He was a very special man.

Surviving are a daughter, Sandra Hearns and her husband Don of Innisfil, Ontario; four sons, Jeffrey LaFerla of Flemington, NJ, Gregory LaFerla and his wife Brenda of Easton, PA, Kenneth LaFerla and his wife Kathy of Flemington, NJ, and Richard LaFerla and his wife Paula of Washington, NJ; Alfred was the loving grandfather to thirteen grandchildren: Adam, Mark, Kyle, Rachel, Justin, Travis, Hayley, Amber, Brooke, Ryan, Kayla, Tyler, and Kevin; and one great grandchild Tayah.

Funeral Services will be a private family service on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in St. Magdalen Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. There will be no calling hours.
