Alfred H. Roesch of Flemington NJ, died in the early hours of February 11, 2025; one week after his 90th in Bridgewater NJ. He was born on February 4, 1935 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey to the late Mary (Pal) and Henry F. Roesch. Raised in Rahway, New Jersey, Al graduated from Rahway High School and furthered his education as a Rutgers University alumnus.
After serving his country for two peace time years in the United States Army and achieving the rank of First Liuetenant, Al pursued a career in the securities industry through various firms as a registered representative and a general branch manager. Al retired from Prudential Securities in 1998.
He married Caroline (Johnson) Hager Roesch, and they raised their sons, Hans L. Hager and Paul F. Hager, in Flemington, New Jersey.
Known for his accepting, generous, and compassionate nature, Al loved helping others through his actions as a member of the Flemington-Raritan Board of Education and by volunteering at the Hunterdon County Senior Center by assisting with individual’s income tax returns and Medicare questions.
Always seeking the “happy and bright” side of life, Al traveled to Central America, South America, China, Europe, and Alaska, including a trip to Africa with his granddaughter, Dakota A. Hager.
In addition to his parents, Al was predeceased by his wife, Caroline, and his daughter-in-law, Susan L. Boer. ‘Great-Grandpa Al’ is survived by his two sons, Paul and Hans, his three grandchildren, Dakota, Caitlin L. Dirany, and Dylan T. Scalora, and four great-grandchildren, Griffin, Harper, Paxton, and Benjamin.
Friends may offer condolences on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm, followed by a brief sharing of memories, at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822. Interment will be held privately in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Flemington NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Al’s name may be made to the Hunterdon County YMCA, c/o Deer Path Branch, payable to River Crossing YMCA, 144 W. Woodschurch Rd, Flemington, NJ 08822.
