Alice “Lee” Kuhn Schwartz, age 96 years, died on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 in the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in New York, NY, May 4, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Ann Horn Kuhn, and lived most of her life in Manhattan.
Dr. Schwartz received an M. S. in Experimental Psychology from Hofstra University and a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from New York University. She served for many years as a school psychologist for the Board of Education of the City of New York. One of her primary responsibilities at the Board was acting as an expert witness representing the Board in child placement hearings. In 1979 she authored the book “Somniquest: The 5 types of sleeplessness and how to overcome them” published by Harmony Books.
She is survived by her son Barry Schwartz and his wife Kay of Stockton, N.J., by her 4 grandsons (Aaron Schwartz, of Stafford, Va., Adam Schwartz of Amherst, Ma., Chad Schwartz of Annandale, N.J. and Ryan Schwartz of Nottingham, N.H.), by her 4 great-grandchildren (Ilana and Kaleb Schwartz of Amherst, Ma., Alora Schwartz of Annandale, N.J. and Ellie Schwartz of Nottingham, N.H.) and by her sisters, Harriet Sterling of Miami Beach, Fl. and “Jae” Jacovitz of Miami Beach, Fl.
Funeral services and interment will be private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Please do not send flowers.
