Allan R. Goodman

Allan R. Goodman, age 67, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at his home in Lopatcong, NJ, surrounded by his family.

Born October 31, 1946 in Elizabeth, NJ, son of the late Julius and Sylvia (Miller) Goodman, Allan was a teacher and administrator with the Piscataway Township School System. He retired as the Department Chair in 2006 after teaching Social Studies, history and law and, for many years, he was the Mock Trial Coach, all at Piscataway High School.

After retirement, he and his wife of 44 years, Malka (Linsenbaum) Goodman, travelled the world – one of his favorite and last destinations was a trip to Southeast Asia. He loved attending musicals and plays in New York, dancing with Malka, but especially loved spending time with his family.

Predeceased by his parents, Allan is survived by his wife, Malka, daughters and sons-in-law, Tova and David Goldstein of Bethlehem PA, and Melissa and Scott Petzel of Atlanta GA, his brother and wife, Leslie and Joyce Goodman of Naples FL, his seven grandchildren, Samuel, Benjamin, Sophia, Aaron, Zachary, Ilana, and Grant, as well as his sisters-in law, brothers-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm, Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Flemington Jewish Community Center, 5 Sergeantsville Road, Flemington, NJ 08822. Burial will follow at the Flemington Jewish Community Cemetery, Capner Street in Flemington.

Shiva will be observed at 7:30 pm, Sunday, August 3rd at the Goodman home located at 10 Dinah Drive, Lopatcong, NJ 08865.
