Alma May Ewing Papics was born November 1, 1936 in Flemington, NJ, to the late Jack Ewing and Alma Kroesen Zanetti and passed away June 18, 2020 at her home in Colbert GA. She graduated from Flemington High School in the Class of 1955. She attended Rutgers University for courses, holding a CTA and CTC for the State of New Jersey. She was married to James Frank Papics for 64 years. She retired as a Tax Assessor for Bloomsbury Borough, Stockton Borough and Township of Delaware in Hunterdon County, NJ in December of 1994. She worked for the Township of Raritan Tax Assessor's office in the 1960's, also for the Hunterdon County Board of Taxation for about 9 years as an Administrative Clerk and Acting Tax Administrator in the 1970s. She also worked for C. L. Orbaker & Co., an appraiser company, in the early 1980's. She was a member of the St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary in Athens, GA, a volunteer for the St. Mary's Hospice House in Athens, a Life Member and Past-President of the Raritan Township Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, active member for over 30 years, joining in 1962, a Life Member and Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Firemen of the State of New Jersey. She served on the Delaware Township Planning Board, served as Secretary to the Raritan Township Board of Health for many years. She also served as Secretary to the RTUMA for 5 years. She was a Past Member and Past President of the Hunterdon County Assessor's Association for many years. She served on many committees for the State of New Jersey on Tax Issues because of holding both a CTA and CTC Certificates. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Agnes Lambert; and stepfather, Howard Zanetti. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and John C. Kentnor of Colbert, GA, son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Vicky Papics of Bloomsbury, NJ; three grandsons, John M. Kentnor of Colbert, GA, Scott Papics and Kevin Papics of Bloomsbury, NJ; two great-grandchildren, John Cameron Kentnor and Alivia Kentnor; and a sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Gerald Brummer of Homasassa, FL; and a sister-in-law, Peg Oram of Oxford, NJ. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Flemington. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Raritan Township Fire Company, 303 South Main St., Flemington, NJ 08822 or St. Mary's Hospice, Colony Square, 1021 Jamestown Blvd., Suite 215, Watkinsville, GA 30677.
