Alverda Kuhen

Alverda Kuhen, age 92 years, of Readington Township, NJ, died Monday. May 12, 2014, in Country Arch Care Center, Union Township, NJ.

Born in Quakeake, PA., April 4, 1922, daughter of the late August and Catherine Louise Neifert Schmerfeld, she had resided in Readington Township sixty years.

She was the cafeteria supervisor at the Readington Township Elementary School, Three Bridges, NJ, until retiring.

Alverda was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Flemington, NJ; was a former Sunday School teacher and was also a former Girl Scout leader.

Her husband, William Kuhen, died in 1998 and a granddaughter, Catherine Traynor, died in l999.

Surviving are two daughters, Karen Traynor of Readington Township, NJ, and Joyce Kuhen of Raritan Township, NJ, and a granddaughter, Deborah Traynor of Raritan Township, NJ.

Graveside services will be private on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at 11:30AM in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown, PA.

Calling hours will be Friday 6:00-8:00PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
