Alvin J. Reid

Alvin J. Reid, age 82 years, of Byram Township, NJ, died Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Newton Medical Center, Newton, NJ.

Born in Staten Island, NY, February 22, 1941, son of the late Alexander and Viola McNamara Reid, he was a graduate of Port Richmond High School, Staten Island, NY, and Cooper Union School of Art, New York City.

A resident of Byram Township since 2008, he had also formerly resided in New York City and Hoboken, NJ.

Alvin was a self-employed Textile Artist who also enjoyed working with watercolors.

An avid sailor, he enjoyed sailing in New York harbor, Bermuda and in the Caribbean.

He was pre-deceased by two sons, Peter Reid and James Alvin Reid.

Surviving are his wife of forty-one years, Patricia Polenz Reid; his son, William Reid of Sunbury, PA; his daughter and son-in-law, L. Dawn Lavin and Christopher J. Lavin of Bushkill, PA.; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Jennifer, Brittany, Robert, Peter, Christopher, and Shana; and ten great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 3:00 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be Friday, December 1, 2023, 5:00 PM-7:00PM at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
