Amelia Della Ventura, age 82 years, of Union Township, Hunterdon County, NJ, died on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at her home.
Born in Plainfield, NJ, March 11, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Gelsomina Gentile Natale.
A homemaker, she took great pride and joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook, bringing her family together every Sunday for large meals. At one time she owned and operated her own lunch wagon in South Kearny, NJ. Additionally, she was an avid exercise enthusiast, Star Trek fan, and bought and sold real estate.
Her husband, Andrew Della Ventura, died in 2006. Surviving are two sons, Salvatore and his wife Dollie Della Ventura of Neshanic Station, NJ, and Andrew Della Ventura of Dunellen, NJ; two daughters, Stephanie Van Hoesen of Pittstown, NJ, and April Babich and her husband Ron of Califon, NJ; a sister, Virginia Omelio of Bridgewater, NJ; eight grandchildren: Paul Vega, Rachel Vega, Rebecca Miller, Mario Vega, Theo Della Ventura, Robert Van Hoesen, Jr., Rachel Babich, and Steven Babich; and four great-grandchildren, Janelle, Corrina, and Vincenzo Vega and Sofia Miller.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Pittstown, NJ. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Quakertown, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
