Anna M. Drewes

Anna M. Sussbauer Drewes, age 95 years, formerly of Hunterdon County, NJ, died on Friday, January 29, 2016 in Kennedy Memorial Hospital, Gloucester County, NJ. Anna was born in the Bronx, NY on December 3, 1920, daughter of the late John J. and Anna Kollaritsh Sussbauer, Sr. At the age of nine, Anna moved from the Bronx, NY to Pittstown, NJ, where she attended Alexandria Township schools and graduated from Frenchtown High School. Upon graduation she moved to New York City, NY and worked as a key punch operator for the Girl Scouts of America. Anna married Charles H. Drewes in 1951 and they lived in Cresskill, NJ. She enjoyed swimming, cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. After raising her family, she reentered the workforce as a bookkeeper for Hoke Inc. She was an active member of the Cresskill Congregational Church. In 2010 she moved to Sewell, NJ, where she lived until her death. Her dedication, faith, and spirit was an inspiration to her family and many friends. She was predeceased by her husband Charles, her late brother, John J. Sussbauer, Jr., her late sister Rosina Anderson, and her late nephew, James Sussbauer. She is survived by her sons and daughters in law: Tom and Donna Drewes as well as Kenneth and Linda Drewes. In addition, she is survived by five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and nephews, Walter and Jack Sussbauer, and their families. She leaves behind many other loving friends and family. A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 11 AM under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home. Calling hours will be held prior to the funeral on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 from 10-11 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery, Quakertown Road, Quakertown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cresskill Congregational Church, 85 Union Ave, Cresskill, NJ.
