Anna May Hoffman, 95, formerly of Flemington, New Jersey passed away peacefully at Brentwood Nursing Home, Lecanto, Florida on December 1, 2018.
She was born in Princeton, New Jersey. She lived most of her life on Bonnell Street in Flemington, in the home that her late husband Clifford Leslie Hoffman’s grandfather Charles Rittenhouse built. Anna was a proud wife of her WWII veteran husband. While he served, she spent 3 years apart from him. After the war ended, and not long after he returned, they tragically lost their first born son in an accident. They persisted together to build a life and family that lasted 71 years.
Anna worked at several different jobs during her life and retired from Lipton in Flemington. Throughout her life she enjoyed live music and dancing. Her home was her pride and joy. Anna was a loving mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was affectionately known as Mom, Grandma, Granny Annie and GiGi. The kitchen was her domain where she was most creative and provided her family with an appreciation of quality home cooked meals. Her legendary rhubarb pie and Christmas cookies will be forever missed!
She is preceded in death by her husband Clifford Leslie, her parents Gertrude and John Van Kirk, her first born son Clifford, two brothers John and William, three sisters Grace, Eva, Lilian, and granddaughter Ivy.
Anna is survived by a daughter Shirley, three sons Keith, Ronald (Duffy) and Kevin, daughters-in-law Jan and Sherri, five grandchildren Tate, Reid, Troy, Madelyn, Bekah and four great grandchildren Liam, Ada, Lucy and Paxton. She is also survived by one brother Harry, three sisters Betty Jane, Leona and Gertrude along with a few sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and their extended families.
