Anna P. Hughes

Anna P. Hughes, of Riegelsville, Pennsylvania, died on Friday, May 3, 2024 at the Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township NJ, four days before her 86th birthday.

Born May 7, 1938 in Philadelphia PA, Anna was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary (Stoddard) Graff. She was raised in the Fairmont section of Philadelphia and after her marriage to the late Robert Stephen Hughes, moved to the Fairview section of Camden in 1964. Anna and Bob relocated to Flemington NJ in 1970 where she lived for nearly 50 years before moving to Riegelsville in 2018.

Anna worked as an Administrative Assistant for Yale Corporation in Flemington and many years in Human Resources for ShopRite of Flemington until her retirement.

Her Catholic faith was very important to Anna and she was a parishioner of St. Magdalen Church in Flemington for many years.

Anna loved the water - being at the beach or the pool always made her happy. She enjoyed travelling to sunny destinations with favorite trips to the West coast of the US, cruising to the Bahamas with her daughter, as well as trips to the Carolina’s with her family and friends. Always with a competitive spirit, Anna loved playing a game of cards like pinochle, rummy, or Uno, and spending time reading a new crime or mystery novel. If Anna was listening to music, it often was song from Barry Manilow or Kenny Rogers. Most of all, Anna was family oriented and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren whom she loved with a passion.

In addition to her parents, Anna was predeceased by her husband, Robert Stephen Hughes in 2012 and her daughter, Donna Schuster in 2023. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert R. and Joanne Hughes of Ewing NJ, and Michael S. and Shelley Hughes of Riegelsville PA, her daughter, Deborah Williams of Stuart FL, and her eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Anna will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ 08822. Interment will follow at 1:00 pm at Calvary Cemetery, 199 Matsonford Rd, West Conshohocken, PA 19428. Calling hours will be Thursday morning from 9:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
