Anne N. Schafer passed away surrounded by family on July 21, 2024. Born in Cleveland, OH on February 24, 1954, she was the fourth of the late Joan (Beargie) Nesteruk and late Michael A. Nesteruk’s six children. She leaves behind her husband of 45 years, Steven L. Schafer; two children, Mark G. Schafer (Katie Johnson) and Julie S. McGurk (Dan McGurk); two grandchildren, Molly C. McGurk and Elliot A. McGurk; her siblings; Christine Gerber (Mark Gerber), Marsha C. Nesteruk, Robert J. Nesteruk (Connie Nesteruk), and Vincent A. Nesteruk (Sharon Thompson, deceased); sister-in-law, Judy Bogner (Dave Bogner); and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Timothy S. Schafer, and her brother, Michael A. Nesteruk, Jr.
Anne held a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh and an M.B.A. from Wayne State University. Her career started at B.F. Goodrich, where she met her husband, and she went on to work at Ford Motor Company, Hunterdon Central Regional High School Media Center, and the local Girl Scout Council where she was Director of Finance. The most fulfilling part of her career was her volunteer work as a guardian for four incapacitated people through Volunteer Guardianship One on One.
She made a lot of dear friends through her 33 years of playing golf at Copper Hill Country Club and her various other activities, including pickle ball, bridge, bowling, and mah-jongg.
Two visitations are scheduled at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ 08822. The first will be on Monday evening, July 29, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The second will begin at 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, followed with a service at 2:00 pm with comments from Anne’s immediate family. This will be followed by a repast from 3:00 to 5:00 at Copper Hill Country Club that includes appetizers, finger food, and drinks.
Interment will be private in Newtown Cemetery, Newtown Pennsylvania.
