Anthony W. Guglielmo, age 77 years, of Readington Township, NJ, died Friday, October 7, 2022.
Born in Morristown, NJ, November 10, 1944, son of the late Anthony and Irene Lloyd Guglielmo, he had formerly resided in Stirling, NJ.
A 1962 graduate of Watchung Hills Regional High School, Tony currently worked as Chief Project Estimator for Liberty Elevator Corporation.
Tony’s career in the elevator industry spanned over 50 years.
Starting as a mechanic’s helper for General Elevator in 1970, he then joined National Elevator in 1984 where he opened new branches and managed company expansion.
As an equity partner, he helped spin off and form Liberty Elevator in 1987, where he served as Vice President and later President until his semi-retirement. Tony came out of retirement returning to Liberty Elevator in 2011 to oversee the Fire & Life Safety renovations for the Statue of Liberty that re-opened the crown to visitors and provided access to the monument for the disabled. The renovation was awarded the prestigious Project of the Year award by Elevator World in 2014 and was recognized during the Statue’s 127th Birthday and reopening ceremony on July 4th 2013 by NYC Mayor - Michael Bloomberg & US Secretary of the Interior - Sally Jewell.
Tony spent the remainder of his career at Liberty Elevator as Chief Project Estimator, mentor to fellow team members and a trusted advisor to ownership.
Tony’s competitive winning nature and remarkable work ethic inspired many young and seasoned professionals alike where he was greatly respected for his expertise, dedication, and passion.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed all types of motor sports. In his free time, he was usually found working on a street rod in the garage.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-three years, Lorraine C. Guglielmo; two children, Karen Walsh and her husband, Brett Walsh of Flemington, NJ, and Christopher Guglielmo and his wife, Michelle of Lewistown, MT; five grandchildren, Emily, Riley, and Connor Walsh; Landon and Makenzie Guglielmo and three sisters, Arlene Burke, Susan Kohler, and Dorothy Guglielmo.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2022, from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Please join the family immediately following calling hours for dinner and drinks at the Flemington Elks, 165 Rt. 31 Flemington. Funeral services will be private.
