Arie Peters

Arie Peters, age 85 years, of East Amwell Township, NJ, went home to his Lord on Sunday, July 20, 2008, in Rolling Hills Care Center, Clinton Township, NJ.

Born in Hazerswoude, Netherlands, April 4, 1923, he had moved to New Jersey in 1951, via the Queen Mary, and had formerly resided in Skillman, NJ for over forty years.

He owned and operated Arie Peters Nursery nursery business in Skillman, NJ for many years. During that time he received patents for cultivating two new shrub varieties which he named for each of his children; the Winston yew and the Ilex Irene.

He was a member of the Blawenburg Reformed Church for over fifty years, serving as elder and a member of ther choir.

Surviving are his wife of fifty-seven years, Paula Geers Peters; a daughter, Irene Harrison of Ringoes, NJ; a son, Winston Peters of Branchburg, NJ; and two grandchildren, Alexander and Tyler Harrison.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM in the Blawenburg Reformed Church, Route 518, Blawenburg, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Blawenburg Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
