Arleigh M. Emmons, age 88 years, of Delaware Township, NJ, died on Sunday, March 13, 2005 at the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Delaware Township, NJ, September 2, 1916, son of the late Asher and Ella Johnson Emmons, he had resided in Delaware Township all his life.
He was a machinist, last employed by Jefferson Smurfit Corporation, Kingwood Township, NJ, retiring in 1995. During World War II, he was a machinist at Delaval Corporation, Trenton, NJ, where he made turbines for warships and received three Navy E Medals for his work there.
Mr. Emmons was a member of the Sergeantsville United Methodist Church; the Delaware Township Senior Group; and the Spicy Senior Bowling League.
Surviving are his wife Ethel Culberson Emmons; two daughters, Anita Bush of Flemington, NJ and Brynn Gaunt of Lebanon Township, NJ; a son, Lyle Emmons of Delaware Township, NJ; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Sergeantsville United Methodist Church, Sergeantsville, NJ. Interment will follow in Rosemont Cemetery, Rosemont, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
