Arthur A. Reed, Jr.

Arthur A. Reed, Jr., age 85 years, of Flemington, NJ, died Sunday, August 26, 2018, at Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington, NJ.

Born in Somerville, October 8, 1932, son of the late Arthur A. and Helen Hoffman Reed, Sr., he had resided almost all his life in Hunterdon County and had resided in Flemington since 1971.

Art was formerly employed by Taylor Forge, Branchburg, NJ, then by NJ Water Supply Authority where he was a maintenance mechanic from 1970 until retiring in 1996.

Art was a member of the Flemington United Methodist Church; the Flemington American Legion Post #159 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7857, Milford, NJ.

Art served with the United States Army during the Korean War from 1950-1953.

Art loved dancing and camping with family and friends. In retirement, he stayed active working in his yard, and exercising at the YMCA. In addition, he loved to socialize at the McDonald's Senior Men's breakfast club in Flemington. He never met a stranger and even after his wife's death, he counted himself as a very blessed person.

His beloved wife, Evelyn Berstler Reed, died January 2018 and a daughter, Linda Walker, died in 2012.

Surviving are two daughters and three sons-in-law, Karen and Matthew Clark, of Limestone, TN, Bonnie and Mark Hanna of Flemington, NJ and Steve Walker of Hillsborough, NJ; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 31, 2018, at 11:00 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Burial with military honors will follow in Union Cemetery, Lebanon, NJ. Calling hours will be Thursday 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
