Arthur J. Leidich, age 74 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Sunday, January 6, 2013 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, April 10, 1938, son of the late Adam A. and Lillian Ruh Leidich, he had formerly resided in New Brunswick, NJ, before moving to Raritan Township in 1966.
Mr. Leidich received a BSEE degree in 1959 and a MSEE in 1964 from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn
He joined RCA Laboratories, Rocky Point, Long Island, after graduating in June 1959 and conducted field tests for project PANGLOSS.
From February 1960 to May 1962, he served on active duty as a commissioned office in the US Army Corps of Engineers.
In May 1962, he returned to RCA in Princeton, NJ, where he transferred to the Home Instruments Division Advanced Development Group. There he worked on T.V. chroma circuitry.
In September 1963, Mr. Leidich joined the newly formed defense Mico-Electronics Group of the Defense Electronics Product Division, Somerville, NJ. There he designed linear integrated circuits including operational and video amplifiers. Later he worked on Microwave integrated circuits including the control and sense circuitry for a US Army Airborne transmitter.
In May 1971, Mr. Leidich joined the Linear I. C. Design Group of the Solid State Division, Somerville, NJ. There he developed several ignition, control, and power circuits for automotive, audio, and TV tuning applications.
In November 1977, he transferred to the Government and High Reliability Department where he designed Analong and Digital circuits using CAD for Dielectric Isolation Fabrication for various government programs. RCA was bought by Harris Semiconductors who Mr. Leidich continued to work for in the Somerville location until retiring in 1999. He was also a member of the I.E.E.E. and held 25 issued patents to his name.
An active outdoorsman who enjoyed fly fishing and shadow casting in particular, he spent many years fishing the rivers and streams of NJ and NY. Additionally, Mr. Leidich was a railroader with an extensive collection of model trains and spent many years designing and building his own model train layout. A member of the Flemington Presbyterian Church, Flemington, NJ, he formerly served as an elder and deacon.
Surviving are his wife of fifty years, Judith Sartore Leidich; two daughters, Deborah Hackett of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, and Lisa Leidich of Flemington, NJ; a son, David Leidich of Langhorne, PA; and three grandchildren, Jacqueline Hackett, Gavyn Leidich and Skylyr Leidich.
