Arthur W. Edwards

Arthur W. Edwards, Jr., age 81 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township from pneumonia after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Beverly, MA, August 1, 1932, he was the son of the late Arthur W. and Mildred Perkins Edwards,

Arthur's first love was his family followed closely by his love of teaching. He started teaching at a Jr. High School, Malden, MA, then taught high school in Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA. He then trained science teachers for twenty-five happy years at Rutgers/Cook College, NJ.

He received his BA and MA from Salem College; another MA from Temple University and his PhD in Environmental Science Education from the University of Massachusetts.

A member of the Mayflower Society, he was also a member of several academic societies including Alpha Tau Alpha and Phi Delta Kappa.

Surviving are his wife of fifty-five years, Barbara Kenny Edwards; a daughter, Meridith Novack and her husband, Stephen; two sons, Robert A. Edwards and his wife, Kathleen, and Carleton W. Edwards and his wife, Julie; and seven grandchildren, Kaitlin, Allison, Shannon, Christopher, Kimberly, Sarah and Nicholas.

Arthur loved a good story and loved to tell them. He rarely ever forgot a joke. We know you are making the angels laugh now.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 6, 2013, at 2:00PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be Friday 1:00-2:00PM.
