Barbara A. Holcombe

Barbara Ann Holcombe, age 78 years, of Ringoes, NJ (East Amwell Township) died Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Trenton, NJ, August 7, 1944, daughter of the late Walter Van Luvanee, Jr., and Jennie (Tymerszym) Van Luvanee, she had resided in Hunterdon County all her life.

She was a graduate of Hunterdon Central High School, Flemington, NJ, Class of 1963 and Mercer Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1966, Trenton, NJ.

She was a registered nurse and after her marriage loved working on the family farm in East Amwell Township the rest of her life.

When she was younger, Barbara loved riding and foxhunting with the Amwell Valley Fox Hounds on her snow-white horse, Buzby.

She is survived by her husband, of fifty-six years, Robert W. Holcombe; her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Ethbaal Pena of Ringoes, NJ; two grandchildren, Shelby Pena and Zachary Pena and his wife, Bethany.

Also surviving is her brother, Walter Van Luvanee III of Ringoes, NJ; her best friend, Maureen “Buzzy” Foley; her loving and loyal dog, Bentley, the boxer who will miss her terribly and her trusty steed, Maverick.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 9, 2022, at 11:00 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Ringoes, NJ. Calling hours will be Friday, December 9, 2022, 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
