Barbara Ann Barnes, age 72 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Sunday, November 11, 2007 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Doylestown, PA, October 19, 1935, daughter of the late William and Helen Dalrymple Menton, she had resided in Raritan Township since 1964, having previously lived in Flemington, NJ and New Hope, PA.
A 1953 graduate of Solebury-New Hope High School, she went on to receive her B.A. in Education from West Chester State Teacher's Collge, West Chester, PA in 1958. She then received her M.A. from Trenton State Teacher's College.
She was a teacher for many years in the Readington Township Public School System and also taught at Triton High School, Blackwood, NJ. Additionally, Mrs. Barnes substituted and tutored at Hunterdon Central and Delaware Valley Regional High Schools for many years.
A Past President of the Hunterdon County Education Association, Mrs. Barnes was also a member of the NEA and NJEA.
Surviving are her husband of forty-nine years, Richard Henry Barnes; and a daughter, Cynthia Marie Barnes of Boston, MA.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 12 Noon in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Visitation will be from 11:00-12 Noon on Saturday. Interment will be private. Please visit www.holcombefisher.com for further information or to send condolences.
