Barbara Knobler, age 79 years, of Basking Ridge, NJ, died on Wednesday, April 23, 2008, in Sunrise at Basking Ridge, Basking Ridge, NJ.
Born in Newark, NJ, November 3, 1928, daughter of the late Louis and Claire Jaffe Peddie, she had resided in Basking Ridge since the beginning of this year, having previously lived in Somerset, NJ, West Orange, NJ, Agawam, MA and Union, NJ.
Mrs. Knobler received her B.A. from Newark State Teacher's College and her M.A. in Education from New York University. She taught elementary school for over thirty years in the Irvington, NJ, Public School District, primarily at the Augusta Street School.
A Past President of the Essex County Chapter of the National Council of Jewish Women, Mrs. Knobler was also a Life Member of the New Jersey Education Association and the Essex County Retired Teacher's Association. She was also formerly an instructor in the "Healthy Bones" Program at St. Barnabas Hospital.
Her husband, Milton Knobler, died in 1979.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Fred Godett of Clinton, NJ; a son, Steven Knobler of Seattle, WA; and two grandchildren, Michael and Joel Godett.
