Beatrice Levine

February 4, 1920 — August 14, 2016

Beatrice Levine, 96, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2016 in Syracuse, New York where she resided for the last seven years. She was pre-deceased in 2009 by Lawrence Levine, her husband of 68 years, as well as her parents, Sadie (Baum) and David Haftel, and her sister, Gladys Schechter. “Bea" was known for her lovely outgoing and kind nature. She lived her life by the philosophy of philanthropist, Edward Bok, “Make the world a bit better or more beautiful because you have lived in it.” Bea was a volunteer for many good causes including the battles to conquer M.S. and Cancer; as well as selling poppies for the VFW Auxiliary on Memorial Day. She could be counted on to serve her community in any way that she could. She gave graciously of her time and compassion. Bea was a very caring individual who had great generosity of spirit. Bea had an inborn love and appreciation for all things beautiful, be they in art, music, theatre or nature. Her sense of style and eclectic good taste were always evident in the loving and welcoming home she made for both family and friends. Her nature was always positive and inclusive to all. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Bea’s compassionate and giving legacy lives on in her three children; Joel (Lnor - deceased) of Atlanta, Georgia; Ellen (Manny) of Syracuse, New York; Lee (Jane) of Allentown, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Her brother, Harold Haftel of Florida, as well as five nieces, four nephews and many cousins also mourn the passing of such a dear lady.
