Bertha A. Smith

Bertha A. “Berdie” Smith, age 75 years, of Sand Brook (Delaware Township), NJ, died Friday, December 30, 2022, at Brakeley Park Care Center, Lopatcong Township, NJ.

Born in Somerville, NJ, January 5, 1947, daughter of the late Howard and Augusta Hockenbury Goldy, Berdie had resided in Delaware Township all her life.

She was formerly employed as a warehouse person by Yale Materials Handling, Flemington, NJ. Berdie also drove her own tractor-trailer for several years and was a school bus driver for Delaware Township School System for twenty-five years.

She was a member of the Amwell Church of the Brethren, Delaware Township and loved to bake and cook. She also loved her flower garden and bird watching.

Berdie is survived by her husband of fifty years, Frank J. Smith, Sr; two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank J. and Amy Smith, Jr of Easton, PA and Michael J. and Christina Smith of Milford, NJ and two grandchildren, Brianna and Tyler.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at 11:30 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Burial will follow in Lower Amwell Cemetery, Delaware Township, NJ. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
