Bertram B. Miller

Bertram B. Miller, age 65 years, of West Amwell Township, NJ, died on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at his residence.

Born in Elizabeth, NJ, he was the son of the late Bertram N. Miller and Grace Seymour Miller.

He was the third generation Owner and President of B.B. Miller & Co., an insurance firm founded in 1901 in Elizabeth, NJ by his grandfather and then run by his father. He retired in 2005 after fourty years. The firm is now owned and operated by his daughter, Merritt Duffy, representing the fourth generation.

A Corporal in the United States Marie Corps from 1961-1964, Mr. Miller was very involved in the community and served as Past President of the following organizations: the Elizabeth Rotary Club, the Greater Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce, the Union County Independent Insurance Agents Association, the Amwell Valley Conservancy, Inc. and Angler's Anonymous.

Additionally, Mr. Miller served as Director of the following: Elizabeth YMCA, the Tuscarora Club of Millbrook, United Jersey Bank and Summit Bank. He was a member of the Union Township, Hunterdon County School Board, a Trustee of the 200 Club of Union County and a Governor of the Nassau Gun Club.

Surviving are his wife, Janet Louise Huff Miller; three daughters and three sons, Gretchen Anderson, Merritt Duffy, Megan Larsen, B. Nick Miller, Blake Larsen and Miles Larsen; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Sarah K. Miller and Judith Colie.

A loving husband, father and friend, he will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the 1st Presbyterian Church of Lambertville, 31 North Union Street, Lambertville, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
