Bette D. Phillips, age 80, died Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township.
Born February 24, 1935, in Cranford, NJ, Bette was the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Thaisz) Dougherty. Raised in Cranford, she has lived in Hunterdon County for many years.
Bette was as an Office Manager and retired from Labern Machine Products in Branchburg, NJ, where she worked for many years. As a phenomenal chef, her passion was cooking, she was a sous chef and opened a roadside café in North Branch, NJ. She also operated an antique business, Whirlygig Antiques, with her sister, Ellen, with whom she loved to travel to Maine with for many years. Bette also was an avid reader; mysteries and cookbooks were her favorites.
Predeceased by her parents and her son, James Phillips in 1991, Bette is survived by her daughter, Linda Jones of Milford, NJ, her granddaughter, Ivy Jones, and her sister, Ellen Katona of Florida.
Funeral arrangements are private and under the direction of Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
