Betty Atkinson

Betty Atkinson, age 102 years, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 in Little Brook Nursing Home, Lebanon Township, NJ. Born in Clinton Township, NJ, May 31, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Bertha Ramsey Welsh. Betty was an Accounts Payable manager with Johns Manville until retiring. Betty was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Old White House-General Frelinghuysen-Colonel Lowrey DAR Chapter; Readington Reformed Church: the Union Township Senior Citizens: the Friends of the Red Mill: the Holcombe-Jimison Farmstead Museum; and served fifty years on the Hunterdon County Election Board. She was also an active canvasser for the American Cancer Society for many years. Her husband, Russell Atkinson, died in 1995, and a grandson, Geoffrey Atkinson, in 2013. She was also predeceased by her five siblings. Surviving are her son, Russell Welsh Atkinson, of Flemington, NJ; her daughter, Patricia Atkinson Lloyd, of Lebanon Township, NJ; and her granddaughter, Jamie Atkinson Asaro, of Mountainside, NJ. Graveside services and interment will be private in Union Cemetery, Lebanon, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made to the Daughters of the American Revolution, 1776 D Street NW, Washington, DC 20006.
