Betty Lane, who was always a wonderful friend to many, died Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Independence Manor in Flemington, NJ.
Born in Pennsylvania, on February 2, 1923 to Margaret Montaque, she lived in Hunterdon County most of her life, residing in Flemington for over 50 years.
She was employed by Ortho Pharmaceuticals, retiring in 1987, after 26 years of service.
Living life to the fullest after retiring, Betty traveled often with her most-memorable trips being to England, with her sister, Peggy Joy, and to Austria, with her friend, Caroline Miller. She also traveled extensively throughout the US with numerous senior citizen groups, always having fun with her sister-in-law, Evelyn Lane. She was actively involved with Happy Tappers, and was a member of the Flemington Elks, American Legion and Presbyterian Church. In addition, she volunteered with the Flemington-Raritan Rescue Squad Ladies Auxiliary and other organizations. She loved square dancing, line dancing, bowling, swimming and always being active. Though her biggest joy was spending time with her family.
Predeceased by her husband, James Lane, her sons, Bruce and Jim, and daughter-in-law, Carole, she is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Linda, of Flemington, and Tom and Mary, of Phillipsburg; her grandchildren Kimberly (Anthony), Ken (Hilary), Jeff (Stephanie), Ryan, Mike, Matt and Justin; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; her very special sister, Peggy Joy Mason; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation on Sunday, February 6, 2022, from 1:00-2:00 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Amy Lincoln, will follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will then take place at Readington Cemetery, 124 Readington Road, Readington, NJ.
