Carmela Betancourt, age 91, died at Hunterdon Medical Center on Friday, January 3, 2020. She died peacefully in her sleep of complications relating to congestive heart failure.
She was born on March 8, 1928 in El Jibaro, Sancti Spiritus, Cuba before emigrating to the United States in 1954.
She is predeceased by her loving husband, Ociel Betancourt, who passed away on February 10, 2008. Carmela was a dedicated and loving mother to her two daughters, Alicia Dominguez and Aixa Robinson, and her 5 grandsons Anthony and Alex Dominguez, and Andrew, Eric and Daniel Robinson.
Carmela is predeceased by nine siblings, and brought her love of family to her many nieces and nephews. A long-time resident of New Jersey, she spent most of her retirement with her extended family and friends in Florida and Texas.
Viewing hours will be held on Friday, January 10 at 5:00pm and Saturday, January 11 at 12:00 noon at the Caballero Woodlawn Park South Funeral Home in Miami, Florida. Interment on site, will follow on Saturday at 3:00PM.
