Carol Ann DeVoto

Carol Ann DeVoto, age 77, of Flemington, NJ, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, January 29th, 2025.

Born in Westerly, RI, on May 17, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Treffle and Louise (Groccia) LaPlante. 

Carol was a faithful Christian who loved the Lord dearly. She showed kindness and compassion to everyone she knew and met. She was a friend to all.

Professionally, she was a devoted teacher for 40 years, many of those years teaching at the New Life Christian School in Flemington, NJ. Additionally, she was a longtime Sunday School teacher, running children's activities and performances at her church. 

She was an avid New York Mets fan with her husband and they both enjoyed many years at the Point Pleasant Boardwalk and beach with their children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Lorraine Sunderland and John LaPlante.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Robert DeVoto, of Flemington, NJ; her daughter Danielle Szierer and her husband Mark, of Branchburg, NJ;  her son Joshua DeVoto, of New York, NY; her three granddaughters Jazley, Marli, and Luciana Szierer; her brother-in-law Bob Sunderland, of Ashaway, RI; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Carol will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will take place on Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 1:00-2:00 PM at the Flemington Assembly of God Church, 434 US-202, Flemington, NJ 08822. Memorial services, officiated by Pastor James Panza, will follow at 2:00 PM in the church. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Capner Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
