Carol Josepha Barone 80, of Upper Black Eddy, Pennsylvania was called home to be with God on Saturday July 20, 2013. She passed following a short illness at Quakertown Center in Quakertown, Pa.

Born to Joseph W. Spinelli and Domenica Liotino in Bronx, NY on October 30th 1932, she arrived just in time to ride her broomstick on Halloween. Carol had two beloved sisters Concetta D. Cornell and Marie V. Todisco. As a child she resided in South Plainfield, NJ and graduated from St. Peter’s High School with the class of 1951.

During Carol’s marriage to Joseph Barone she was blessed with five children. She was a loving mother, raising her children with kindness and understanding. As a crossing guard in the late 1960s, Carol was like a mother to all the children of Annandale as she guided them safely off to and home from school each day. She served as a member of the Annandale Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary. In the early 1970s she was elected Clerk of the Township of Clinton.

Carol attended Hunterdon County Adult Practical Nursing Program with her daughter Leslie completing her practical nursing education in December 1979. She went on to attend Somerset County Community College graduating with her Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing on May 19, 1984.

Carol worked in the nursing field for many years in a variety of positions providing care and comfort to the elderly and our American Heroes at Lyons Veterans Hospital. She also kept the boys in line at the Annandale Youth Correction Facility. She was always available to provide loving care to friends and family offering comfort and support in their times of need.

Carol was a lifelong artist enjoying painting and crafting. She was a member of the Brushing Violets of NJ. She enjoyed Halloween most of all the holidays painting the most amazing pumpkins and dressing as a witch each Halloween to dispense candy to the apprehensive children brave enough to venture onto her porch in spite of her jovial witch cackle.

Carol was predeceased by her parents and sisters.

She is survived by and her life will be celebrated by her son David and his wife Carmen of Goleta CA, her son Peter and his wife Eileen of Ringoes NJ, her daughter Leslie Wilchinsky and her husband Ed of Vernon, NJ, her daughter Mia Johnston and her husband Bill of Upper Black Eddy PA and her son Matthew of Phillipsburg, NJ. Her loving grandchildren will miss her yearly reading of The Night Before Christmas. Her grandchildren are Wesley Johnston of Upper Black Eddy PA, Brielle Wilchinsky of Brooklyn NY, Orion Wilchinsky of Vernon NJ and Andrew Barone of Goleta CA. She was beloved by her many cousins, nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces, nephews as well as all who knew her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 AM in Our Lady Of Victories Church, Baptistown, NJ. Interment will be private. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
