Carol Olsen Voorhees, age 98 years, of Flemington, NJ died Thursday, November 30, 2017, at her home.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, November 16, 1919, daughter of the late John and Ruth Nielsen Olsen, she had resided for many years in Whitehouse Station, NJ, then in Winter Haven, FL. for twenty years before returning to the Flemington area in 1999.
A graduate of Centenary College, Hackettstown, NJ, Carol was formerly a supervisor with Johnson & Johnson’s Ortho Pharmaceuticals, Raritan, NJ.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Flemington, NJ and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Carol enjoyed oil painting, crocheting, basket weaving, dollmaking and Norwegian embroidery.
Her husband, Arthur Voorhees, died in 2000, her son-in-law, Joseph Zak, Sr. in 2005 and her sister, Joyce Dunigan in 2002.
Surviving are her daughter, Carolee Zak of Flemington, NJ (with whom she resided); her son Arthur Dalton Voorhees III and his wife, Toni, of Hoschton, GA; two grandchildren, Joseph A. Zak, Jr. and his wife, Julia, and Pamela Lytle and her husband, George Campbell; a great granddaughter, Rachel Cozze and her husband, Rick; and a great-great grandson, Chase Cozze.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 4, 2017, at 6:00 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be Monday, 4:00-6:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment in Rural Hill Cemetery, Whitehouse, NJ will be private.
