Carolyn R. O'Neal

Carolyn R. O’Neal, age 89 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2023, at the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Hackensack, NJ, April 3, 1934, she was the daughter of the late William and Helen (Goering) Fass. She resided in Hunterdon County, NJ for the last sixty-one years.

Carolyn was a homemaker, raising six children. She was active as a school board member with Kingwood Township and Delaware Valley schools as well as a member of the PTA. She was active in politics managing the local offices for several congresswomen and assisted in several political campaigns. Fulfilling a lifelong desire, she became a nurse later in her career, something she was very proud of.

She volunteered with a variety of organizations including Women’s Crisis Center and Hospice. She was a long-time active member of the Calvary Episcopal Church, Flemington, NJ.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of fifty-seven years, the late Arthur O’Neal, who passed in 2011, her brother William Fass and her son-in-law Barry Miller.

Surviving are her six children, Michael O’Neal (Maureen) of Knoxville, TN, Colleen Miller of Easton, PA, Dennis O’Neal (Mary Ellen) of Glen Gardner, NJ, Peter O’Neal (Gail) of Belvidere, NJ, Kathleen Shiarappa (Matt), NJ and Matthew O’Neal (Popie), both of Frenchtown, NJ; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister-in-law Maureen Fass and brother-in-law Thomas O’Neal.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 15, 2023, in Calvary Episcopal Church, 44 Broad Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in the memorial garden of the church. There are no calling hours.
