Cecilia V. Quigley, age 94 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Friday, January 4, 2013 in the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, April 2, 1918 she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna Petrilla Klepper. Cecilia and her husband, Thomas J. Quigley, moved to Flemington from Jersey City after World War II and, in those early years, was a stay-at-home Mom enabling her to not only tend to her children but, along with Tom, become involved in a number of civic and social organizations.
In 1966 the couple fulfilled a long-standing dream by visiting relatives in Ireland and members of the French Underground who shielded Tom and his fellow soldiers for a period after the D-Day invasion. It was after Tom's death in 1967 that she joined the Flemington National Bank & Trust Co. in the student loan department.
In the years following she traveled with her cronies and continued her social and political organization activities. Among those activities Cecilia was involved with were being a volunteer Red Cross nurses aide at Hunterdon Medical Center when it first opened; serving as a volunteer aide assisting children to read at Flemington Elementary School; serving as President of the St. Magdalen Church Rosary Altar Society; and being an active member of the Hunterdon County Senior Citizens group.
In addition to her husband, she was pre-deceased by three sisters, Anna Williams, Helen Gordon and Margaret Wright.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Fennelly and Barbara Quigley of Bethlehem, CT and Michael and Ann Quigley of Denver, CO; four granddaughters, Jacqueline Granski, Ariel Quigley-Paul and her husband, Scott, Lissa Quigley and Bridget K. Quigley Blakley; and a grandson Michael and his companion Karen Satterwhite.
