Charles J. Bauman, age 64 years, of Alexandria Township, NJ, died on Thursday, May 3, 2012, in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ.
Born in Phillipsburg, NJ, July 26, 1947, he was the son of the late Carl and Ethel Martinka Bauman. He had resided in the Pittstown area most of his life.
He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War and Desert Storm.
Charlie retired as First Class Gasman with PSE&G after thirty-two years of service.
Charlie loved to restore airplanes, cars, and motorcycles. He was a member of the American Legion Post, Stewartsville, NJ. He also completed the entire Appalachian Trail in five months.
He was pre-deceased by his brother, Herman Bauman. Surviving are his wife of forty-three years, Barbara Dilts Bauman; three daughters, Michelle Hallman of Easton, PA, Tonya Gruchacz of Flemington, NJ, and Cheri Taylor of Myrtle Beach, SC; three sisters, Marie Peterson of Pipersville, PA, Tillie Froat of Garwood, NJ, and Diane Rush of Waverly, MO; two brothers, Edgar Pryatt of San Francisco, CA and Russell Bauman of Pittstown, NJ; and seven grandchildren: Patrick Taylor, Griffin Taylor, David Hallman, Jr., Stephanie Hallman, Daniel Hallman, Brooke Gruchacz and T.J. Gruchacz.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be private in Three Bridges Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Friends and family are invited to a family gathering following the service.
