Charles L. Murphy, age 68 years, of Somerville, NJ, died Thursday, January 9, 2020, at RWJ Hospital, Somerville, NJ. Born in Summit, NJ, May 12, 1951, son of the late Blair and Barbara Webb Murphy, Charles formerly resided in Atlantic Highlands, NJ, and had resided in Somerville for the past thirty-three years. Charles was employed as an Administrative Assistant by AT&T for forty-three years until retiring in June 2019. He was also President of CWA Union Local #1038 of Basking Ridge, NJ. He was an avid bridge player who also enjoyed cooking and entertaining. Surviving are his brother, James (Jim) Murphy of Boynton Beach, FL; a niece Mackenzie Murphy of Scotch Plains, NJ; a nephew, James Murphy, Jr. of Piscataway, NJ and a grandniece, Abigail Earp of Scotch Plains, NJ. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 17, 2019, at 10:00 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ will be private. There will be no calling hours.
