Charles Pursell, age 78 years, of East Amwell Township, NJ, died Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Trenton, NJ, November 8, 1940, son of the late Charles Orville Pursell and Winifred Lally Pursell, he had formerly resided in Hamilton Township, NJ.
Charles worked as a freight conductor for the Pennsylvania Railroad. An avid member of the Amwell Valley Fire Company, Charles sat on the East Amwell Board of Adjustment and was an East Amwell Representative for Chairman. He was also a member of the Flemington Elks and a member of St. Alphonsus Church in Hopewell, NJ.
Surviving are his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Adele A. Pursell; three daughters, Kathleen A. Kneafsey of Annandale, NJ, Karen M. Slifka and her husband, Emory of Stockton, NJ, Cheryl L. Powell of Pittstown, NJ; son-in-law, John K. Kneafsey of Califon, NJ; and two
grandchildren, Meghan M. Kneafsey of Washington, NJ and Shaun C. Kneafsey of Califon, NJ.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on December 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM in St. Alphonsus Church, Hopewell, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment was held in St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Hopewell, NJ.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Charles's name may be made to Amwell Valley Fire Company, PO Box 76, Ringoes, NJ 08551.
